Welcome to the Northern Imagination Forum!
The Northern Imagination Forum was started at the University of Sheffield in 2019 by Andrea Blomkvist. Since then, Jacopo Frascaroli and Deb Marber have also joined the organising team. We organise biannual conferences on imagination and related topics, such as fiction, creativity, scientific modelling, and perception. Our aim is to have our conferences hosted by different universities in the north of the UK, in order to bring together researchers from different geographical areas and different disciplines. We also want to facilitate discussion between researchers from various points in their careers, so we emphasise giving opportunities to junior researchers to present their work at our conferences, alongside keynote talks by more senior researchers.
Though the forum has 'northern' in the name, you are more than welcome to join us even if you are not based in the north of the UK, and we also invite speakers from further afield!
If you're interested in our future events, please sign up to our mailing list. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we have temporarily moved all our conferences online.
We have recently launched a YouTube channel, where you can check out the latest talks from our conferences.
